Grand Prix Review: Rd10, Hungary

A welcome return to the post-race podcast, Pitpass Editor Chris Balfe re-joins Glen Crompton and Mat Coch to discuss the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Balfe's return came an opportune time given his fondness for Kimi Raikkonen, our Editor impressed that the Iceman continues to improve in his second stint in Formula One. He also disagrees with Coch, believing Raikkonen is a shoe-in at Red Bull.
However while Balfe is impressed with Raikkonen, Coch can barely hide his disappointment with Romain Grosjean, suggesting the Hungarian Grand Prix may have proved the straw to break the camel's back - It was an opportunity to truly establish his place in Formula One squandered, the Australian reasons.
Back on song Crompo has come up with another conspiracy theory after Grosjean's car was deemed legal after qualifying despite the fact Crompo believes it wasn't. It's a carrot to all the design gurus at all the teams, he cautions before nominating country-man Mark Webber for the Van der Garde Award.
Running just short of fifteen minutes it's over in less time than it takes to eat a pizza and wraps up all the Hungarian Grand Prix in one bite size slice.

Grand Prix Review: Rd9, Germany

Clearly smarting from the defeat (an understatement) at the hands of the Lions at the weekend, the Australian branch of Pitpass is back with its thoughts following Sebastian Vettel's breakthrough German Grand Prix win at the weekend.

Somehow the championship leader barely rates a mention, his metronomic performance not worth a mention as Crompo, Jo Soucek and Mat Coch laugh their way through fifteen minutes of the less obvious stories from the weekend.

Yet while Vettel doesn't get a mention Giedo Van der Garde does, the Caterham driver having a prestigious new award named after him. The three hosts however have very different views on just who should claim the inaugural ‘Van der Garde Award’ with votes for Jules Bianchi, Lewis Hamilton and Giedo himself.

The voice of sanity, Soucek is keen to put to rest the rumblings over Pirelli's tyres, suggesting the whole sordid business can finally be put to bed, while Crompo, clearly flustered by the sheer presence of Pitpass' legal editor, is left theory-less for the second week running as he drags up a theory from podcasts past.

iF1 Interview - Paul Hembery

The week after the British Grand Prix is usually dominated by talk of potential driver moves – whether or not Kimi will end up at Red Bull, who will replace him at Lotus? – not discussion about tyres.
Indeed rarely a day goes by in Formula One where Pirelli doesn't make the headlines, and while it means lots of screen time for Paul Hembery (a passable Ricky Gervais stunt double) not to mention frequent flier points.
Somehow he was able to spare a few minutes out of his busy schedule to drop in to the Pitpass studio for a quick chat with resident Michael Parkinson-aspirant Mat Coch.
Discussion inevitably turned to the British Grand Prix, with Hembery fielding a number of tough questions during the interview. From Pirelli's engineers to the team's responsibility, the short but hard hitting chat reveals the secrets behind the exploding tyre trick.

Grand Prix Review: Rd8, Great Britain

After a British Grand Prix filled with talking points, the Pitpass team was spoiled for choice in its wrap up of the event. Mat Coch is once again joined by Glen Crompton with Legal Editor Jo Soucek, yet another Australian, making her podcast debut.

Soucek and Coch conspire to leave Crompo at a loss as they dissect all the important stories from the British Grand Prix weekend and touch on some of the big issues facing the sport. A voice of reason Soucek explains her thoughts behind the current tyre situation, while Coch remains openly critical of some of the sports minnows.

For once Crompo in theory-less, bereft of conspiracies, but he does confess his view of Mark Webber is softening in his old age (both Webber's and his own). He does however suggest the Force India chef could be to blame for Paul Di Resta coming in under-weight during qualifying, and revealing his own sadistic satisfaction that at least when the Pirelli tyres failed - which he believes is a bad thing - they at least had the decency to do so with some panache.
